Finding Beauty...

... Everyday, everywhere!
I think I'd share 'Found Beauty' weekly (or so) on my blog...
As for today... beauty from the farmers' market. Enjoy!

Summer Impressions of Italy.

While my hand is gaining more and more strength and mobility, there's not so much I can do, except for strolling around ;)... when I don't have to do physiotherapy, 2 hours per day actually. Boring but necessary!
So at the beginning of the week, off I went to Lake Como, on a glorious summer day.
I used to live 15 minutes driving from here... and this spot on earth is also dear to my heart because it marks very important steps of my love story with my prince charming= DH! :)
Hope you'll enjoy coming along with me!
Varenna is famous for this picture- perfect corner... It was definitely the perfect sunny day to take pictures of those quaint, colored houses.

There are narrow alleys with steep slope and hundreds of steps that go down to the lake...

... and bright colors everywhere.

While here, I always pop by Villa Monastero for a visit. A former monastery, as its name suggests.

It's a calm place, where you can enjoy silence and meditate while walking up and down the precipitous paths. You can admire and smell the scent of several different plants (cedars of Lebanon, African and American palms, agaves, yuccas, citrus trees, oleanders, to name but a few!) and fill your heart with peace. From here you can enjoy wondrous views of Lake Como.

You can admire amazing architectonic details too...

I particularly love this little gazebo with a balcony on the water... so romantic and peaceful.

The gorgeous, old, dimmed mirrors with chippy frames always deserve a few shots...

Hellooo!! I am in love with my blue- gray hat and Cath Kidston bag.
I must tell you my look of the day was very admired by many of the American and English tourists that filled the little village :)

Time to go away... Hope you liked the tour.
I have many things to show you, from amazing fresh flowers to crafty ones, adorable purchases and also bit and pieces of my art. I know that some of you are waiting for me to put online my art portfolios. The right time will come. As for now, please bear with me while I'm healing, looking for a new nest, and having to move again. I really appreciate your patience.

Sunday Finds.

At last, the sun is shining in my corner of the world, and I decided some retail therapy was in order after a week of gloomy weather and plenty of headache, to cheer me up. As after the surgery I cannot drive yet, I asked my Dad to come with me, and off we went to the flea market...
Here are my finds! First, a precious, vintage baby bonnet (white with a touch of pale pink!) and several big pieces of vintage linen, lace and doilies, for a mere €1/$1.40/£0.80 each. I ask you- could I pass them by??

My poor baby helped me to show you how lovely the bonnet is! ;)

Then I brought home an antique velvet jewelry box and old rosary... for a song!

Not sure if I prefer the former or the latter...

... Aaaand... a gorgeous, huge and heavy vintage atlas! Now I have 8.3 kg/18.3 pounds of vintage maps to use in my art and craft projects... when I build up the courage to put scissors to it!!LOL

Then again, a stack of vintage books and a couple of blue chandy crystals.

And you? Have you found any treasure lately?

Gift Wrapping- Part Deux.

Hello all, I hope your week is off to a good start!
Do you remember that Abby @ Abby's Paperie Garden won my giveaway a while back?
Here's how I wrapped her prize, adding a few extras for her to enjoy! She gave me permission to share with you, so let's start with the box...

As for the other box I showed you in a previous post, I left it very plain so she may stack it up with other boxes in her studio.

Here's what she found opening it. As you can see, it's the care for details that makes a gift really shine, even if it is very simple and inexpensive.

The inside of the lid was completely covered in old paper as usual, with an inscription and a tag I made and glued to add interest and a further touch of care.

and naturally the prize Abby won! :)

I enclosed a few extras to make her smile opening the parcel, and all adds to the presentation.
A cute birdie, a vintage doily and rusty key, she can use for her amazing creations...

I covered an ugly orange notebook Abby can use to write down thoughts or inspired ideas, matching the theme of the box.

I couldn't help but enclosing this dainty Capodimonte vintage rose I had bought for me at the flea market, as an italian souvenir! And some old pages written in italian for little projects, together with a couple of scented sachets that Abby told me filled the air with a wonderful scent of rose as soon as she opened the box...

See, as I previously affirmed, it's not necessary to spend a fortune to elevate the presentation of a simple gift.
Happy gift- wrapping everyone!

Pink Peonies and about Beauty.

Today, for Beverly's Pink Saturday, I want to homage you with these amazing peonies from my garden... well, even if it's no longer mine, I always refer to it as 'my' garden. I had wanted it so bad, I have worked so hard and learnt patience in it, I made a barren, neglected piece of land bloom in wonderful colors, giving me the opportunity of being grateful every single day for its bountiful gifts and the joy it offered me and my family... and sometimes I miss it now.
But I've learnt (and I'm practicing at that) to let sadness go. Beauty and Abundance are in every corner, and I'm sure there's something fabulous in store for me and those I love!

Enjoy the Beauty around you every single day! I's always there, you just need to open your eyes!!!
